The football team of the Olabisi Onabanjo University is set to partake in the third edition of the Powerball tournament coming up on the 25th and 26th of May 2018 at the University of Lagos main stadium in Lagos State.
The SUG Sport Director, Comrade Dada Abayomi (SkyBoy) who confirmed the development to Campus Mirror said the university will compete with 11 other universities in the two days tournament.
He explained that the competition is a Campaign Against Drug Abuse organized by celebrities in the country and its a friendly match in which the winner goes home with a huge amount of money, trophies, and medals.
He also revealed that OOU has been part of the attendees ever since the tournament started.
Skyboy further said the OOU football players have had training vigorously and are fully prepared to come back home with gold. He said the team tested their winning abilities in a friendly match last week where they won 3-0 against Bilad FC in Ijebu ode.
He assured that they will give their best in the match and hopes to win a gold medal for the school.
"We hope for the best, we are a team fair play and if we try, its for God to grant us success and we hope to come home with gold medal because last year, we came out with the silver medal, this year, we believe that OOU will go for the gold.", He said.
