UPDATE: STUDENTS SHOT AND BRUTALISED BY ORU DIVISIONAL POLICE

The confrontation between officers of the Oru Divisional Police Station and students of Olabisi Onabanjo University has taken a more dangerous turn, as new information reveals that several students were shot and brutalised during the crackdown.

The SUG Public Relations Officer (PRO), Comr. Salau Michael Olamide, confirmed that the injured students are currently receiving medical attention at Love and Care Hospital, as the full extent of their injuries is yet to be ascertained.

In a significant escalation from our earlier report, the SUG PRO disclosed that the divisional police station deployed its tactical team against the students, raising serious questions about the level of force authorised against unarmed members of a student union who had gathered to secure the release of their illegally detained colleagues.

The SUG bus, earlier reported to have had its windscreen shattered, sustained further damage, according to the PRO.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the police, and no officer has been held accountable for the assault, shooting, or destruction of property.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
