SUG WELFARE DIRECTOR CANDIDATE DISQUALIFIED FEW HOURS TO ELECTION

Ajibowu Samuel Adeola, popularly known as ADEOLA, has been disqualified from the SUG Welfare Director race by the Electoral Committee on Sunday, April 7, 2024, for lack of professionalism, coherence, and respect for democratic principles of the election process.

My opponent suppose step down for me, but he still dey think about am, Eco never put his name for ballots do, to save yourself the stress"

Few hours after he made this statement, the Electoral Committee released a press release, stating his disqualification from the race of the SUG Welfare Director.

Adeola then displayed his shock and dismay towards the ECO decision in his message to his supporters, saying, "To my supporters and OOUites in general, let me address a recent misunderstanding stemming from comments made on the aspirants's WhatsApp platform It appears that my remarks have been misconstrued and unfairly used against my person to advance their political agenda. I wish to provide clarity and reaffirm my commitment to the values of fairness, respect, and integrity within our student body.”

He further said "It is crucial to clarify that my comments were made in jest and were not intended to contravene any rules or guidelines outlined in the Constitution of the Student Union Government. As a candidate, I am dedicated to upholding the principles of integrity and due process as laid out in our governing documents. I was not even called to hear my side of the story, before the committee made the decision and this actually got me so bad"

The SUG ECO in their press release concluded that "It's clear that the candidate's statement falls short of the standards expected from someone seeking public office. The lack of professionalism, coherence, and respect for democratic principles of the election process from Ajibowu Samuel Adeola hereby results in official disqualification from consideration for the position of Student Union Welfare Director".

Adeola has been disqualified, leaving his opponent alone in the race.
