SUG DECIDES: 11 of 17 OFFICES CONTESTED FOR UNOPPOSED

The 2024 Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Students' Union Government election has experienced a low turnout of candidates, with only 6 offices being contested while the other 11 offices were contested for unopposed with 2293 as total number of votes cast.


Enzaim who at the last SUG election stepped down in the early hours of the election day on Thursday, Sept 28, 2023, now becomes the 37th SUG President-Elect after the virtual election was concluded and results announced today, April 8, 2024.




Though most of the prominent offices were contested unopposed, however, some posts were fiercely contested, leaving Osho Mimolewa Oluwagbohunmi popularly known as Mimo at the top of the Vice President 4 race, with a total number of 1300 votes ahead of his opponent Chileuwa Chimela Chinahu, who secured 1008 total votes.




In the quest for Director of Socials, Patane Joshua (Leukocyte) surpasses Toluwani Olabakin popularly known as SchiroDhype with a landslide of 2039 to 624 votes. While Bankole Olumide (Mide Banks), ahead of his counterpart, Okubanjo Olatunji Yunus secures the key to the Medical Director's office with a total vote of 1636 to 1020 votes.




The office of the SUG Public Relations Officer (PRO) witnessed the emergence of Popoola Abimbola Mistura (Hon.Ab) as the P.R.O- Elect, defeating her opponent, Olowoporoku Eniola Philips (Olaray) with 1445 to 1248 votes. Salman Lukman Oluwadamilare wins the Assistant General Secretary 4 race, finishing first ashes of his two opponents with a total of 1181 votes.



Other posts were contested for, unopposed, posts like;

Vice President 1, witnessing Michael Patience Filomena (Sophie) as the VP 1- Elect, Taiwo David Dayomola as VP 2, Olasode Mary Oluwatosin also becomes the Vice President 3-Elect, unopposed. Sodehinde Itunu Babatunde started and finished the Financial Secretary race alone, while Kudoro Adeyinka became the General Secretary-Elect, unopposed. Sofowora Joseph becomes Legal Director-Elect, unopposed, and Ilori Olawale Olamilekan (Voice) becomes the 37th SUG Welfare Director unopposed after his opponent Adeola was disqualified a few hours before the election. Shittu Oluwaseunfunmi Hafsat emerges AGS 3-Elect unopposed.
