In honor of recognition and celebration of the completion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Tuesday 9th of April, and Wednesday the 10th of April, as federal holidays.
This decision aims to recognize the significance of Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims worldwide.
The Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ayodeji Agboola, through an internal memorandum released today, extends his wishes and congratulations to the Muslim community and Muslims around the world for successfully completing the fast. He expressed his joy, and admiration for their dedication during this sacred month and also emphasized the importance of unity, togetherness, perseverance and empathy demonstrated by the teachings of the month of Ramadan.
He further expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support, dedication and cooperation of the university staff, as well as their contributions to upholding and maintaining peace and stability.
As a testament and celebration of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr festivities, the vice chancellor declared a temporary closure of the university on Tuesday April 9th and Wednesday April 10th, 2024. This closure will enable the students and staffs to observe and enjoy the holiday. However, staff members on essential duties are expected to fulfill their responsibilities during this period.
The university will officially resume its regular operations on April 11th at 8am, rejuvenated and ready for the future.
