“URGE TO END UNBEATABLE GIMMICK BIRTHED FRIENDLY MATCH” - ASCOM SPORTS SEC

By Tabitha Oyebade

Association of Students' Communicators (ASCOM) Sports Secretary Akinola Opeyemi, popularly known as Akinovic, has made it known that he initiated a friendly match between the 200lv and 300lv to put a stop to their juniors tagging themselves as unbeatable.

Akinovic made this revelation to Campus Mirror on Sunday, January 19, after the friendly match, which ended one goal to nil in favour of the senior team.

“There has been hype among the 200lv students that they were unbeatable, so I decided to organize the match to end that. We've been beaten before, and they've also been beaten before, but they tagged themselves as unbeatable,” he said.

However, he commended ASCOM BLAZERZ, for putting in a great shift but was more amazed by his team's performance despite not training before the match like their opponents.

"Everyone surprised me; ASCOM Blazerz, tried, and I was impressed. However, my team exceeded my expectations because we didn't have training before the match but the ASCOM Blazerz did. It is what it is; football happens, and we won. It was fun and I'm happy,” he added.

Meanwhile, Ascom Blazerz coach, Mojolaoluwa Oladeinde, revealed that he feels gutted to have lost to Mavens FC, but lessons have been learnt.

“This being my first match of coaching this football team, it is painful losing in this manner, but we have learnt a lot from this, so we move on and go again and again and again and again,” he said.
