MSSN OOU CHAPTER APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVES

The Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Chapter, on Saturday inaugurate a 42-member executive body at the Central Mosque, Mini Campus, Ago-Iwoye, with Abdullateef Akintunde emerging as the new Ameer (President). The inauguration, held during the society's transitional conference, marks the handover from the 2025/26 administration to a new leadership drawn from diverse departments across the university. The new executive structure covers key offices, including Deputy Ameer, General Secretary, Director of Academics, Finance Secretary and Public Relations officers.

In the opening speech by the outgoing Ameer, Habeebulah Abdrazaq. He charged the incoming executives to embrace sacrifice and accountability. "Leadership is not about status, but about sacrifice. It is not about authority, but about accountability before Allah," he said. He encourages the executives that, "challenges will be faced, there will be moment of tiredness and difficult decisions, but patience is key during these difficult time. Always remember that the success of the society depends on those leading with fear of intention" He said.

The Guest lecturer Ustadh Khidr Abdussalam, who spoke on the theme: Passing the Trust: Leadership as an Amanah-preserving the legacy and advancing the cause of Dawah, urged the new executives to lead with patience, knowledge and integrity. He stressed that these qualities would be tested throughout their tenure. He encourages the new executives to the strife hard, not only for the position they just acquired, but for the sake of Islam.

According to Abdullateef Akintunde, the newly appointed Ameer(president), he clarified that, he was appointed as an ameer(president) of MSSN OOU Chapter as an amanah(trust) to make sure he delivers. He added that, "what motivates me is that, it is a means of gaining reward from Allah(SWT), If I am able to deliver well, I know Allah(SWT) will reward me for it. Secondly I want Islam to be more elevated on campus". On the final note, He pledged to address the publication and transport crises faced by the past administration.

Minutes and financial records of the outgoing administration were read publicly by Akintunde, who served as General Secretary and Robiah Aremu, the outgoing Financial Secretary.

Certificate of appreciation were presented to the former executives in recognition of their services to the society in OOU. 

The event ended with the distribution of 20 bags of rice to the first 20 attendees, six male and fourteen female students, as promised by the programme's planning committee.
