FLA FRESHERS' CUP '24: FACULTY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE TO BATTLE FOR GOLD

By Oluwatobiloba Adeosun

The Faculty of Education and Faculty of Science have advanced to the final stage of the Football Lovers Association (FLA) Interfaculty Freshers' Cup as they both defeated their opponents in the semifinals on Thursday.

The semis, held at the sports center, was a clash between Faculty of Education Vs Environmental and Faculty of Science vs Faculty of Art with both sides securing a 1-0 victory.

Faculty of Education education coach, Korede Zukarat, while speaking with Campus Mirror in an interview, shared his feelings about his team's performance and also revealed some tactical changes he made in the course of the game.

"I feel impressed and proud of them. The fight was good, and we deserved the win. Ordinarily, Lanry, the man of the match, is always in the right back and putting Fatiu in the middle, but immediately I subbed Fatiu in; the game changed from the middle field to the right back moving forward which the attack was good,” he said.

The gaffer further stated that he would work with his players to prepare them for the final.

"I will be working on my players for them to handle the pressure, playing freely, and try to get their win,” he added.

Meanwhile, faculty of science coach Ruffy, revealed that he was not convinced with his team's performance and also noted the tactical decisions he made during the game as well.

"Their game was not impressive enough, but they did their best and I believe they can do better in the final round of the game. It was my right back doing things I don't want which prompted me to change someone who could mark and press high and it impacted the game,” he said.

However, Ruffy believes that his team will come out victorious in the final.

“Education is a very good team, but I believe. We are still coming out victorious we have never lost any game,” he added.
