A student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Faleye Promise has been selected by the body of Nigerian University Games (NUGA) to represent Nigerian Universities in an upcoming tournament in table tennis.
Faleye Promise, was selected to represent Nigeria at an upcoming table tennis tournament which is scheduled to take place in China next year.
In an interview organized by Campus Mirror Sport Crew, Faleye discussed how he began his journey as a table tennis player and how he got picked to represent Nigeria at the last NUGA games hosted by the University of Lagos (Unilag).
"I started playing table tennis back in Secondary school in 2015. My desire for the sport pushed me to work hard to compete at the state level. My first involvement at a major tournament was the West African University Games (WAUG) in which I won my first-ever bronze medal. After winning the bronze medal for my school. In 2021, I competed at Gateway Tertiary Institution Games (GATIC) where I won three gold medals for my school. I won gold in Men's Singles, Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles," he said.
Faleye also added, "Straight to NUGA 2022, I won the first gold medal for my school in NUGA games over two decades ago. During this feat, I was selected alongside my colleague to represent Nigeria at The Olympics University Game in China."
Faleye Promise is one of many school athletes selected to represent Nigeria and show the world the talent they harness within.
