FACULTY OF LAW TILTS TOWARDS GENDER EQUALITY, INAUGURATES FEMALE CABINET

By Adewole Kazeem and Deborah Iluyemi.

The Faculty of Law, Olabisi Onabanjo University, held it's virtual election via TEAMs APP, on the 7th of April, 2021, which saw the emergence of the unopposed Tiwalade Aderemi as the 2nd Female President of the Faculty.

The election which many students described as a great initiative is a milestone as many other faculties and even the SUG may begin to adopt the method.

While discussing with the Electoral Chairman, he said "we had looked through every possible challenges and have procured a solution for it" hence, the election was hitch free and stress free despite the massive turnouts of the electorates. He also said that the Faculty Management is fully involved in the electoral process as a prominent lecturer of the Faculty, Mrs Kemi Ayanleye, was physically present during the collation of the results.

It was also gathered that the Faculty inaugurated the new set of executives on the 9th of April, 2021 during the Faculty's Dinner and Award Night.

The cabinet which was reported to consist of 10 members has just 4 males while the remaining 6 are females, which has earned it the name female cabinet.

As gathered from a student, the mantle upon Tiwa is a huge one as she needs to be firm in order to have an excellent and efficient administration.

The Faculty also inaugurated members of the Parliamentary i.e. LSPC with yet another female, Bakare Khairat, being the Speaker of the Parliament.

The results of the election as provided by the electoral committee who claimed that 6 non-law students voted through the link and were subtracted accordingly, is as follows:
