By Odedina Mariam, Mojisola Olulenu

OOU students were equipped with an impactful session on digital innovation and career development during the Student Empowerment Programme (SEO) held on April 29, 2026, at the LLTNF Mass Communication Building.

The event, titled “Building Up the Potential in You 2.0,” with the theme “Architecting a Career in the Digital Innovation,” was designed to expose students to opportunities beyond the classroom and equip them with practical knowledge relevant to today’s digital age.

The programme brought together experienced speakers who provided valuable insights into personal growth, career development, and how students can position themselves early for success. The sessions emphasised the importance of stepping out, gaining exposure, and building relevant skills before graduation.

One of the keynote speakers, Femi Olaseinde, stressed the importance of vision as the foundation for success. According to him, “Everything begins with your vision,” noting that clarity and direction are essential for meaningful progress. He further encouraged self-awareness, stating, “I will know myself well enough so that I will not be a man that knoweth not.”

Another speaker, Michael Sonaike, encouraged students to acquire relevant skills, apply them effectively, showcase their abilities, and consistently repeat the process for continuous development.

The event also highlighted the need for students to move beyond the traditional classroom setting. Organisers explained that the programme was created to help students discover their hidden potential and take advantage of opportunities that can shape their future.

A participant at the event described the session as eye-opening, stating, “This programme made me realise that I shouldn’t wait until after graduation to start building my career. I have to start now by preparing myself, building my potential, and taking action consistently.”

Overall, the programme served as a platform for students to gain practical knowledge, connect with the right people, and begin taking intentional steps towards shaping their careers in the digital era.
