The management of Olabisi Onabanjo
University, Ago Iwoye has said that it has installed security close circuit
television in various locations of the university's main campus as a medium to
detect and prevent crime.
This was disclosed to OOU Campus Mirror by
the Chief Security Officer of the University, Mr.Adekunle Rasheed Bankole in an
interview held last week.
Mr. Rasheed said that the strength and
equipment of the security unit has been increased which automatically give room
for adequate security. He added, '' We now have some Ex-service men in the
likes of police and military men on campus with arms. We have also installed
the CCTV which covers all activities in every corners of the University with
experts monitoring it.
“We equally have operation MESA who are
always patrolling the Campus, anyone that is caught in an unjust act will be
taken away by the security operatives.'', He said.
While advising students not to join bad
groups, Mr. Rasheed urged those who may have joined to renounced their
membership before it is too late.
''We want our students to remember their
background. They should know they are here to get educated and not to commit
crime. The University will not condone whoever is against the peace of the
institution. Such person will be shown the way out of the University. ''
He further urged students to be law
abiding, to avoid indecent dressing and other crimes like rape, stealing,
examination malpractices, cultism, fighting, assault and other unduly acts.
