FLA FRESHERS' CUP '26: FACULTY OF ARTS EMERGES OVERALL CHAMPION

By Oluwakemi Peters

The Faculty of Arts has made history after emerging champions of the Football Lovers Association (FLA) Cup 2026, following a 2–0 victory over the Faculty of Administration and Management Sciences (FAMS).

The final, played at Attacker’s Field on January 24, 2026, marked FASA’s first-ever FLA Cup triumph since its emergence. A solid defensive display and a clean sheet laid the foundation for the historic win.

Speaking after the match, FASA captain and Man of the Match, Farouq Jimoh, expressed strong confidence in his team’s performance.

“Before stepping onto the pitch, I already knew my team and I were going to win the game and secure the cup,” he said.

Another standout player, Ifeoluwa Abraham Adeyemi, described the match as challenging due to the attacking strength of their opponents.

“At first, the game was very tough because our opponents have some of the best attacking players,” he said. “But through our coach’s game plan and the confidence we had in ourselves, we were able to overcome and win.”

Ifeoluwa also spoke on the pressure of playing in a final and how the team managed the intensity of the game.

“There was a lot of pressure, especially when they noticed they were losing and increased the tempo. But we stayed calm, followed our coach’s advice, and to the glory of God, we won.”

Both players expressed joy and pride in being part of the squad that secured FASA’s first-ever FLA Cup title.
