OOU DECLARES MAY 1ST AS PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Olabisi Onabanjo university has declared the 1st of May, 2024 as a public holiday to commemorate  the Worker’s day. The federal government of Nigeria has also declared, 1st of May, Wednesday to celebrate and honor Workers day. 


The vice chancellor of OOU, Professor Ayodeji Agboola, directed that the school should be closed tomorrow, for the staff (teaching and non-teaching) of the university to observe the holiday. 

The 1st of May, or first Monday in May, is a national public holiday in many countries. International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day in some countries and often referred to as May Day, is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movementand occurs every year on 1 May, or the first Monday in May. 




The VC also congratulated all the staff of the university for been able to witness and celebrate the Worker’s day. He also appreciated the staffs for their steady dedication and support towards the development and progress of the university and reassured the staffs that their welfare would also be prioritized in the university. 


All staffs of the university are expected to resume back to their duties on Thursday, May 2nd at 8:00am.
