On Monday, March 18, 2024, the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) branch has joined the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) national strike to protest the alleged unfair treatment and salary disparities by the federal government.
The announcement made through a memo released by the SSANU-OOU branch, signed by the chairman and general secretary. The memo stated that during the SSANU-OOU congress on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, members extensively discussed the directive from the National Executive Council (NEC) to commence a seven-day national warning strike starting from March 18 if the federal government fails to address their demands, particularly the four-month withheld salaries of union members.
The SSANU-OOU congress unanimously agreed to support the decision of the NEC and pledged total compliance with the strike.
