The Student Union Government President of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Peter Bamidele Ogunsanya, calls on universities not to see students as a source of income or revenue.
Speaking on the current affairs program, Panorama, on Splash 106.7FM Abeokuta today, he says that school fee increment is inevitable but universities should turn to the government for funding instead of using the students as a source of income.
Speaking further, he expresses his view that the student loan proposed by the federal government is not going to mitigate the issue as the majority won’t be able to fulfill the criteria to access it.
According to him, “if the management still fails to reach agreement with the union at the meeting/before next week Monday, January 8th, 2023, the Union will have no other choice than to use the 3rd C of Aluta which is CONFRONTATION(Protest) after the prior Consultations and Consolidation with the management.”
