Mass Communication Students Won the SOSSA Inter-Departmental Debate.

On the 19th of October 2023, the  Social Science Students Association(SOSSA) had an inter-departmental debate. This debate was amongst the six departments and representatives 9f each department were in attendance to compete for the winner of the day. This debate activity is part of the faculty week celebration activities.


In attendance, were Hon. Tope, the President of SOSSA, and the majority of his executives.  Yusuff Mutiullali Abiodun, the 36th OOU SUG Senate President,  was one of the judges for the day. Adeshina Christport O.(SPIKE) and Akinleye Moses Bamidele President of Mass Communication students, were part of the judges. Muizz-Olarenwaju Olatunji, Political Science 200-level class Governor, acted as the Timekeeper. While ANIKE acted as the  Moderator for the debate competition. 





Representing their department for the inter-departmental debate competition were: Adetayo Samson, Bankole Abraham (Political science, Adeoye Abraham Olusegun, Adeniyi Oluwafunmilade Gloria(geography), Oloko-Hannah, Alo Akolade Ifeoluwa(Economics), Ogunade Folarin, Makinde Richard(Psychology), Ashaye Oluwabunmi, Orenike Joseph (Mass communication), and Obiwole Isreal Oluwaleke, Ilori Oluwatimileyin Blessings (sociology)


After a fierce and heated debate on the topic " The Dawn of Artificial Intelligence: Spells Doom for Academic Excellence,
The mass communication department came 1st and the Sociology department  2nd.
Speaking to Campus Mirror after the debate competition,  Hon.Tope mentioned the importance of the debate and its impact on the students. "The inter-departmental debate is conducted to know how eligible and outspoken our students are in their various departments", he said.

The Faculty Week will still feature the following: Costume Day, Entrepreneurship Day, Cultural Day, and Award and Dinner Night.
