Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye, Oba AbdulRasak Adesina visits the new Mass communication building ahead of its commissioning by the NUC. The tour around the department led by the HOD, Professor Dele Odunlami, and other lecturers was done to show the Kabiesi around before he was ushered into the hall where the event took place.
Other dignitaries with the Kabiesi include the Otunba Tajudeen Arowolo and Asiwaju Dauda Akinbanjo. Dr. Lanre Akinola who did the opening speech praised the Kabiesi on the award he received from (FIBAN) Freelance and Independent Broadcasting Association of Nigeria on World Radio Day that was dedicated to the department.
The HOD of the department also spoke about the fatherly role of the Kabiesi. The Oba Panegrics was also rendered by Mehmood Mistura, a 400l student of the department and one of the lecturers, Dr Odule.
The Kabiesi in his speech implored the students to be of good behaviour, calling them his 'Adopted Children' and expressing his delight to be with them. He also expressed his love for mass communication, referring to it as the live wire of any successful organization.
He ended his speech with a promise of helping with the setting up of the department studio and also promised to come around in his free time to lecture the students as teaching is one of the things he loves doing.
