Ogunowe Emma popularly known as Comrade Oowe has won the presidential seat of the Faculty of Art at Olabisi Onabanjo University. The election which took place on Thursday, 22nd June 2023 witnessed free and fair according to students of the faculty.
Honorable Olawunmi Bakenne, Faculty ECO Chairman declared Comrade Oowe the winner of the election after polling 497 votes against his major opponent, Senator Fortune who polled 346 votes.
Speaking after the electoral process, the President-elect, Comrade Oowe who's from the religious studies department said "I felt so great and fulfilled, though it wasn’t an easy journey but I’m thankful to God for the grace and power He bestowed on me to attain the victory". When asked about his goals as the Faculty president, he stated that he'll continue to do better in the aspect of student welfare, academic performance, and social life.
Other winners of this election include Joseph Olaoluwa Florence as the Vice President-Elect, Comrade Oluwafemi Craig popularly known as Femi Ekun from History and Diplomatic Studies Department won the General Secretary seat, Comrade Abdullahi Abdulrahmon Taiwo (skypay) as Financial Secretary and Comrade Komolafe Pius pka double P won the FASA public relations officer.
Babalola Boluwatife, a 300-level student of the History and Diplomatic Studies Department said "It was a free and fair election, no challenges whatsoever and students exercised their right without hindrance, It was a very peaceful one".
Ayinde Abdulmalik, a 300-level student of Philosophy also said "This is the best election that has ever been conducted in the history of the Faculty of Art"
Oowe succeeds his predecessor, Comrade Jamal Kayode.
