In a bid to support students facing financial difficulties, the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Students' Union Government (SUG) has announced the launch of a bursary initiative for indigent students.
This initiative, unveiled on January 18, 2025, aims to provide financial assistance to indigent students who are genuinely unable to pay their school fees due to economic constraints.
According to the memorandum circulated in the early hours of January 18, the program is designed to ensure that deserving students receive the necessary support to continue their education without undue financial hardship.
"Eligible students are required to meet with their departmental or faculty presidents to express interest and submit their information for consideration. The selection process is time-sensitive and students are urged to act promptly."
The key details of the initiative are stated as: only students who are unable to pay their school fees but can provide proof of financial need are eligible, while departmental or faculty Presidents are the only points of contact.
The SUG emphasized that the selection process will be conducted with fairness and transparency, ensuring only deserving students benefit from the bursary.
"We urge all eligible students to take advantage of this opportunity. The selection process will be conducted with fairness and transparency to ensure that only deserving students benefit from this initiative, " the memo reads.
