JUST IN: CASHLINK DISQUALIFIED FROM SUG PRESIDENTIAL RACE

By Olamide Lasisi

The Students' Union Government Electoral Committee Officers (SUGECO) has disqualified Kabiru Toheeb Omotoyosi, popularly known as Cashlink, from the SUG presidential race at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).

After the screening process conducted by the Electoral Committee Officers (ECO) in the late hours of Monday, January 6, Cashlink was surprisingly disqualified, with a memorandum by the ECO at 11pm on the school premises after the screening exercise.

The reason for his disqualification, as stated in the memo is that a banner was erected in the school with his name (Cashlink) on it.

"Upon careful review and investigation, we have identified that you have your banner posted without the signature of the amiable Chairman, the Special Duty Officer(SPEDU) and the CSO which is fundamental and crucial and hereby this violation had led to your disqualification," the memo reads.

Meanwhile, Cashlink's line has not been reachable ever since the time the screening ended, which has raised many concerns among students, claiming that he has been missing.

Campus Mirror would love to hear from the ECO body and Cashlink himself to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding his disqualification as soon as possible. What happened? Was there any prior warning or communication from the ECO to Cashlink regarding the banner? We believe that hearing from both parties will help clarify the situation and provide a better understanding of the events that unfolded.
