Following the conclusion of the Faculty of Art Students Association (FASA OOU) election on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, Campus Mirror has been exposed to misleading and damaging words from some students. The FASA OOU election which was held on March 5th, 2024 was put to a stop due to certain misunderstandings as confirmed by the CSO. In a bid to provide an accurate report of the situation, Campus Mirror spoke with the association’s stakeholders chairman, Zubair Bashir (HolyChild) and he said, “Students were not patient enough to listen to the Ecos directives, in the cause of trying to find a solution to the crisis, the DSA arrived and cancelled the election.”
However, on March 6, 2024, with the presence of the Chief Security Officer of the school, Mr. Adekunle Rasheed, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin), Professor Charles Adekoya, Faculty of Art Sub-Dean, Dr. Dele Idowu, the election results were counted. Students of the faculty witnessed the counting of votes. After the counting the Electoral Committee Chairman, Musa Oluwatobiloba announced Ogunmola Johnson popularly known as Eminent as the winner of the presidential seat defeating his opponent, Abdullahi Abdulrahmon popularly known as Skypay with a total number of 287 votes to 148 votes.
Despite that, after this election, our media organisation, Campus Mirror has been rumoured by some students of taking sides during the Faculty election. Thus, calling the media organization name into disrepute. We are writing this editorial to set the record straight and reaffirm our dedication to unbiased reportage.
At Campus Mirror, we firmly believe in the power of truthful reportage to keep our student populace well-informed. Our commitment to journalistic integrity is unshakable, and we strive to provide accurate and unbiased coverage of events affecting our campus community.
However, we cannot ignore the recent attempts to undermine our credibility with baseless accusations. We take any form of misleading allegation seriously, as it not only damages our organization but also undermines the trust of our readers.
Moving forward, Campus Mirror reaffirms its dedication to upholding the highest standards of journalism. We will continue to serve as a reliable source of information for the OOU campus community, steadfast in our mission to deliver accurate and transparent news coverage.
