The adjourned meeting held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, between the student representatives and the school management has resulted in the Union President walking out in disagreement.
After a lengthy four-hour conversation regarding the proposed tuition fee increment, the students found the Vice Chancellor's verdict to be appalling and unfair, leading to anger among them both during and after the meeting.
During the discussion, the SUG President, Ogunsanya Bamidele Peter, also known as Sen. Pizzle, posed a question to the management, asking, "What percentage are you proposing to us?" In response, the Vice Chancellor stated, "We did not increase the tuition fee by a percentage, but based on economic reality and the needs of the school."
The Vice Chancellor further indicated that the proposed 20-30% increment suggested by the faculty presidents "will not fly.” Instead, he offered a compromise by reducing the initially proposed tuition fee by ₦30,000 as an act of benevolence and charity.
Upon hearing this, the Union President led the students out of the meeting in disagreement. In an interview following the meeting, the Union President issued an order stating, "Regardless of any memorandum released by the management, no student should pay the tuition fee until further directives are given by the Union."
