The time of the year where the best writers on campus are crowned has finally arrived as all application for the OOU Jaw Boxing And Writes Out (OJ-BAWO) competition has been submitted and compiled. The top 15 writers have been selected and also, the top 8 debaters to compete at the grand finale have been chosen.
The OJ-BAWO competition was initiated in 2018 by OOU Literary and Debating Society to recognize and give accolades to intellectuals that thrive by the power of pen and mouth.
Campus Mirror met with the President of OOU-LADS, Olawale Smart who explained that this year's edition being the second would be better and greater.
"This year's OJBAWO will go beyond ordinary debate and writing competition, it will be blended with high innovation and creativity. Our Judges are people of high cerebral make up and will help us pick the best out of the best."
The grand finale which will determine the best debater and writer in OOU would take place on the 10th of July, 2019 at Moot Court at exactly 12pm.
A grand prize of thirty thousand Naira (N30,000) would be awarded that day together with medals and certificates.
The topic of discussion for the grand finale would be; "Democracy: The Elixir to Nigeria's Sociopolitical ills? All student politicians in the school are invited to grace the event.
"We want to use this medium to send an open invitation to all student politicians in OOU. The topic to be discussed "Democracy: The Elixir to Nigeria's Socio-Political ills?" will help us to raise leaders that will make this nation great again and that is the sole purpose why we will invite someone who knows the nitty gritty of politics to discuss the topic."
