The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Professor Olatundun Oderinde, has made it known on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, that individuals who are engrossed in sports tend not to be involved in vices.
While speaking with Campus Mirror in an interview at the 34th Convocation's Novelty match of the university, Professor Oderinde revealed that sports are parts of life, and the university encourages it as well.
"Sports is part of life. When you'r,e busy with sports, you won't be involved in any sort of vices; sports are good for health and also a source of wealth. We encourage it because those who are fully involved in sport won't be involved in cultism,” she said.
The DVC further opened up about the Vice-Chancellor (VC), Professor Ayodeji Agboola's plan to expand sports facilities.
“We will expand sports facilities; it is part of the Vice-Chancellor's program, and he is working towards it definitely; it will improve,” she added.
The Novelty match witnessed the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Agboola, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Professor Olatundun Oderinde, and other members of the Senate. The match, therefore, ended in favour of the alumni team as they defeated the graduating team 2 goals to nil.
