AGT FOUNDATION, MHSI-OOU COLLABORATE FOR PRISON OUTREACH IN IJEBU-ODE

The Adeleye Goodness Taiwo (AGT) Foundation, in collaboration with the Mental Health Support Initiative (MHSI), OOU Chapter, has organized the End-of-Year Prison Outreach themed "Behind the Bars" at the Ijebu Ode Correctional Centre on December 14, 2024.

The outreach aimed to support inmates with essential items such as foodstuffs, clothing, and footwear while promoting hope and second chances for those behind the walls.

Speaking at the event, the founder of the AGT foundation, Adeleye Taiwo, emphasized the importance of humanity and compassion in supporting individuals in correctional facilities.

"This outreach is a reminder that everyone deserves hope and a chance to rebuild their lives, regardless of past mistakes," Taiwo said.

The President of MHSI OOU, Olajire Emmanuel, further stressed the role of mental health awareness in rehabilitation. "We believe that addressing mental health challenges in correctional centers is key to ensuring inmates are better equipped to reintegrate into society," he said.

The event brought together volunteers, partners, and supporters who engaged with the inmates, sharing resources and words of encouragement. It served as a powerful call to action for the community to recognize the humanity in every individual and the need to provide second chances.
