The second edition of the OOU Students' Union Government ( SUG) Games 2024 has been postponed from August 22 to August 23, owing to academic commitments.
This was made known in a statement released by the OOU SUG body via their X handle, on August 21.
The post reads: “The SUG Games, initially scheduled to kick off on August 22nd, have been rescheduled to August 23rd. This change is due to the annex campuses' defense presentations on Thursday, August 22nd, which may impact player availability.”
It will be recalled that the SUG Games was first introduced on February 7, 2024, during the last administration with 10 different games available for students' participation, and was held during academic session.
Meanwhile, the second edition will be a five-game deficit of the first, which had ten games planned out and also with a different timing, as the proposed date is after an academic session in which most returning students must have traveled home to observe the end of the semester break.
Male and female football games, track events, tennis games, scrabble and chess games are proposed sports that have been outlined to feature in the second edition of OOU SUG games, as highlighted on the circulated competition's flyer released by the Students' Union.
