Abesin Nofisat Oyinkansola emerges as the first female president-elect of the Linguistics Students' Association(LINSA) after defeating her opponent Babatunde Oluwatunmise (Great Tunmize) with 93 votes to 23 votes in the LINSA general election held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
Despite initial uncertainties, Nofisat's unwavering determination and faith in herself propelled her to success, saying " I didn't see this coming, but I was at the same time determined and believed in myself. Though when the voting started, I started having this fear, but later summoned up courage, and God did it"
She further disclosed that she got her inspiration from the former LINSA administration led by King Emmy, which portrayed commitment to serve the people. She emphasized on determination being the secret to her success.
Conclusively, Nofisat promised to take the Linguistics Department to a greater heights, she said: " Though the department is already in a great place, but I want to take it to a greater place, may God help me".
