According to the memo released on Friday, 2nd of June, 2023, the OOU SUG Transport Chairman in person of Hon. Tomori Abdullateef (Laftom) through the SUG Transport Committee General Secretary, Senator Omotayo Habeeb Bayode; it was stated that the transportation prices were increased by 100 which will take effect from Monday June 5.
The Student Union Government (SUG) president has planned to hold a meeting with the transport committee on the 4th of June 2023, towards reducing the transportation fee by 50 naira from pepsi to the main campus; and from mini campus to the main campus after several complaints were filed. Many OOUites are not comfortable with the new price list for transportation released by the Student Union Transport Committee (SUTC); because an average student can’t afford spending that much on transportation to school everyday.
In the memo released on the 3rd of June 2023, the SUG also has plans in motion to ensure that the University Marcopolo vehicles popularly known as “ Omo Olope” buses start working again to convey students to school at subsidized prices for the convenience of OOUites. The SUG also plans to encourage and appeal to the university management to resume virtual classes on the Teams app, however, only if OOUites prefer virtual classes to physical classes.
