Tragedy was barely averted last Tuesday as an Olabisi Onabanjo University student, Omobolaji Oladimeji escaped the cold hands of death after a tragic road accident that occured on July 2, 2019.
It was gathered that the accident occurred along Konigba-Mini Campus road in the afternoon hours of the day involving an OOU shuttle driver and an Okada Rider. While the victim sustained injuries, the Okada Rider lost his life in the process.
Oladimeji, who spoke exclusively to Campus Mirror said that his escape from the accident can only be described as a 'miracle'.
"I was on bike going home, I can't say what exactly happened but, the situation seemed like the shuttle driver had a break failure and hit the bike. I fell down and got injured but the bikeman died instantly.
"The cab driver tried to escape and sped past the bike man again, squashing his head in the process.", he narrated.
Another Student who witnessed the accident explained that the accident occurred in front of MAP Lounge as the shuttle driver was trying to overtake another cab.
"He hit a bikeman in the process, unable to control the vehicle as he had a brake failure. Trying to save himself at the moment, he sped past the bike man, creating more damage as he tried to flee. His attempt at escaping was futile as he was stopped before he could get to Konigba.", the witness who proffered anonymity told Campus Mirror.
According to reports, the bike man was buried immediately while the fate of the shuttle driver remains unknown as he was arrested by the police after his cab was towed away.
