Book Launching: Alake, Ebenezer Obey, Professor Oliyide, Others Hails Saburi

 The Faculty of Law, Olabisi Onabanjo University has launched a book in honour of the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University.

The book titled 'Law and Practice of University Governance in Nigeria' was launched on the 8th of May, 2018 at the OGD hall of the main campus.

The launching programme had the attendance of dignitaries within and outside the university which includes the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olatunji; Royalties like HRM  Alake of Egba Land; Oba Matthew Adedotun Aremu, the Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye; Mr Tunji Ayanlaja SAN, Honorable Justice Adamson; Professor Oloyede (Jamb registrar) represented by Mr. Abdul Kareem; General Oversea of Mountain of Fire Ministry, represented by Snr. Pastor Asegunsoro; Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin university, ably represented by  Mr. Olusanya; Chief Ebenezer Obey; Yusuf Olaolu Ali SAN; Prof. Abdul Kareem from Unilorin, ASUU President, represented by Dr. Tessy, the honoree himself; Professor Saburi as well as his wife, Adejoke Adesanya and his daughter, Tiwalade Adesanya; Dean Faculty of Law, Babcock University, Prof. Deji Olarewaju; Mr Segun Shipeolu (President, OOU Law Alumni); Dean Faculty of Education Professor Alaba and several others.

According to Alake of Egbaland who spoke to Campus Mirror after the launching programme, he described the event as worth attending. He also described the Honoree as a true candidate that deserves such honor.

Mrs. Adejoke Adesanya (the wife of Professor Saburi) who spoke to Campus Mirror described the event as something that greatly amazed her "I'm greatly amazed today. Honestly, a tree does not make a forest and the support that we receive today is much appreciated. I missed OOU greatly", she said.

Similarly, Professor Adekola, a Senior lecturer in OOU Faculty of law described the program as an evidence that Professor Saburi is a true leader. "If professor Saburi is a bad person, we won't be celebrating him today, this is a lesson to us all and Professor Saburi is a leader that worth celebration", he said.

Prof. Joseph Atikpokiki Agenka, the reviewer of the book noted that the book is a unique piece in the sense that it contributes to the knowledge and understanding of Nigeria's university history, growth and development.

In the same vein, the Dean Faculty of Education, Professor Alaba described Professor Saburi as a true leader who transformed Olabisi Onabanjo University beyond imaginations. "The honor is inevitable due to his ground breaking research in sourcing funds, innovation and brilliant contribution towards the advancement of the university during his tenure", he said.

The book enumerated problems faced in Nigeria universities in relation with its governance and administration and also discussed preferable solutions to such problems.

According to OOU Vice-chancellor, Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde, "The book is not only a welcome addition to the list of literature of the university administration generally, but, also an affirmation on the role of OOU as a sole searching community in finding solutions to problems facing tertiary institutions in Nigeria".

The Editor of the book who is also the Dean, OOU Faculty of law told Campus Mirror that the book will without doubt provide solutions to problems facing university in Nigeria. "The  book present solutions to solving problems that confronts Nigeria universities' administrative system".

Professor Saburi whose birthday was coincidentally on the day of the launching was showered encomium for his great work in the university which he was grateful for while thanking all for their support. Campus Mirror gathered that almost N10 million was donated during the launching occasion.
