The management of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, has introduced an annual internet subscription fee of ₦10,000 for students, following the upgrade of the institution’s internet bandwidth from 310MB to 1500MB. The new policy, aimed at providing faster and more reliable connectivity, takes effect from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The development was announced in a news release signed by Dr. Wale Balogun on behalf of the Deputy Registrar, Corporate Affairs Division, Olabisi Onabanjo University, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The statement noted that the university’s operations in recent years have become increasingly digitalized, and the new initiative is aimed at improving and resolving issues of poor internet connectivity on campus.
"The University has fully digitalized its administrative and academic processes, requiring students to use the portal for registration, results, and other services. It is the first in Nigeria to use AI for Post-UTME screening. Key processes like JAMB verification, fee payment, and transcript access have been made seamless. To support these systems and address poor internet service, experts recommended increasing the bandwidth from 310MB to 1500MB"
The Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Professor Ayodeji Agboola, has expressed appreciation to members of the university community for their understanding and cooperation. Speaking on behalf of the university authorities, he urged continued support towards maintaining peace, stability, and growth within the institution. He also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing the resources and support needed for the success of all members of the community.
