The Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), University of Ibadan, is set to host the second edition of the Global Campus Journalism Summit (GCJS) alongside the Grand Finale of the Professor Francis Egbokhare Debate Competition on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
The highly anticipated event will take place at the KAAF Auditorium, Department of Human Nutrition, University of Ibadan, starting at 8:00 AM prompt.
Themed “From Campus to Newsroom: Sustaining Truth, Freedom, and Innovation in the Age of AI,” GCJS 2.0 aims to bring together student journalists from around the globe to foster intellectual exchange, collaboration, and professional development.
The summit is expected to feature two keynote addresses and two panel sessions, anchored by renowned journalists and media professionals, many of whom began their careers in campus journalism.
The event will serve as a bridge between campus-based reporting and the broader media industry, highlighting emerging niches in journalism and addressing the evolving challenges of the digital media space.
Participants will gain exposure to specialized journalism fields, engage in solution-focused discussions, and network with peers from various tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
In addition to the summit and debate, the Union will also conduct its annual Induction Ceremony, officially welcoming newly admitted members into its ranks.
