Students of Olabisi Onabanjo University gathered at the OGD Hall, Ago Iwoye Campus, for the “From OOU to Global Access Conference,” a career-focused event aimed at preparing students for life after graduation through mentorship, networking, and practical career conversations.
The conference was organized by The RitaRock EduConsult in collaboration with the Students’ Union Government of the university and featured discussions centered on career growth, finance, employability, scholarships, and opportunities beyond the university environment.
The event was hosted by Godsend Osas and Kitan Bankole, who engaged participants throughout the conference.
One of the speakers, Daniel Olowadotun, addressed participants during the event, while Aderayo Erukilede spoke extensively on building strong CVs, optimizing LinkedIn profiles, and strategically positioning oneself for career opportunities.
Another speaker, Seun Osigbesan, educated students on financial management and the importance of developing healthy financial habits early.
Speaking on scholarship opportunities, Adebayo Durojaiye encouraged and taught students to position themselves for global academic and professional opportunities through intentional growth and preparation.
The conference also featured a panel session where speakers discussed the realities of life after school, including job hunting, networking, career growth, and building valuable professional connections.
In her session, Tiwalade Aderemi charged students to intentionally improve themselves and remain prepared for opportunities after graduation.
The event also featured several giveaways and empowerment initiatives sponsored by Bank78, the headline sponsor of the conference. The company awarded ₦50,000 to five students and later gave ₦10,000 each to ten students who signed up on the Bank78 app using a referral code during the event.
Branded caps were also distributed to students who emerged winners in some of the giveaway activities.
In addition, one of the speakers awarded ₦100,000 and ₦74,000 respectively to two students as part of efforts to support and encourage young people.
A laptop was also presented to one of the team members who contributed to the organization of the conference, while four students emerged as ambassadors for the convener of the event.
The conference concluded with networking sessions, recognition moments, and renewed motivation among students seeking direction and opportunities beyond the university environment.
