The vice chancellor of Olabisi onabanjo university, Ago iwoye, Professor Ayodeji Agboola Johnson congratulated and wished the former Deputy vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Ebun Oduwole as she was appointed the first female Vice chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, which her appointment will take effect on 1st, October, 2025.
This was made known through a news release from the university management of Olabisi Onabanjo University on Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, congratulating and wishing her a tenure that inspires a new era of academic, innovation and growth at Ajayi Crowther University.
Professor Agboola noted that Olabisi onabanjo university is now breeding ground for the production of vice chancellor for sister universities in Nigeria. "The university can boast of distinguished academics and administrators,with exceptional leadership qualities,over seven professors at various times have been appointed vice chancellor of sister universities within and outside the shore of the country"
Professor Ebun Oduwole, who currently is a member of the University Senate, has served the university in many capacities. These include Head, Department of Philosophy (July 2003–August 2006), Business Manager, OYE: Ogun Journal of Arts (1988–2004), Member, Sub-Committee on Academic Ceremonies (2003–2016); Senate Representative on Joint Committee of Council and Senate on University Ventures (2005–2006), and Member, Central Students Disciplinary Committee (2009–2017). She meritoriously served as the Director of General Studies for a period of three years and relinquished the post in July 2016, having been elected as the Dean, Faculty of Arts.
Prof. Oduwole later emerged the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University for two consecutive terms, first as the DVC (Administration & Academic) and later DVC (Administration) from August 2016 to July 2020. She also served as Chairman, Academic Ceremonies Committee, ICT Committee on Drafting of ICT Policy & Webometric issues, University Affiliation Committee, and Member, University Governing Council, and Joint Council and Senate Committee on Appointments amongst others.
Professor Oduwole is a member of many professional bodies that include Nigerian Philosophical Association, Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL), Bioethics Society of Nigeria (BESON), and American Society for Bioethics and Humanities.
She has contributed to the advancement of knowledge with her numerous books, journal articles, and publications in reputable local and international journals. She has attended so many international and local conferences, among which she was a lead presenter. She served as Editor, Journal of Philosophy and Development, Editor-in-Chief of Agogo Journal of Humanities, African Journal of Science and Nature, International Journal of Environmental Studies and Sustainability, and currently the Editor of BEOnline Journal.
