The Vice Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Professor Ayodeji Agboola has disclosed that the initial school fees cannot run the school for the next academic year.
He said this during the meeting with students at the Senate Building where he presented reasons this fees should be increased.
“The initial school fees was able to sustain the school because 2023 witnesses two academic sessions. But now, the school is returning to its normal and former calendar, and following the economic situation of the country, the school cannot run on the initial prices students pay, for the long academic year ahead which will start from January 2024 to October 2024.”
Students present in the meeting showed displeasure about the management increment policy without consulting the students stakeholders.
A student, recognized as Holy Dammy says, “We would have appreciated this meeting before the new school fees was pasted on the students portal. We would love you to reverse the school fees and then negotiate"
"The school has not been making a judicious use of the funds paid by students" says Victor Opeyemi, the 36th SUG Legal Director, during the meeting with the school management at the Senate Building.
