The Faculty of Social and Management
Sciences, Olabisi Onabanjo University organized her first international conference last week
being October 25, 2017.
The 3 days conference which commenced from
Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th, October 2017 was tagged "Achieving Sustainable Development Growth by the year
2030". It featured speakers from various sectors and regions of the
country.
Speaking at the event was the Dean of the
faculty, Professor ROC Somoye voiced that the conference is aimed at bringing
ideas on how to offer solutions to the present problems of Nigeria before
moving to global affairs.
However, the vice chancellor of the
University, Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olajide who was represented by professor
Ebun Oluwole uttered that the agenda comprises 17 goals and 169 targets which
are also known as The Global Goals.
"Consequently, the global initiatives
and commitment to the end of poverty protects the planet thus ensuring that
every human being are saved and prosperous by year 2030", He pinpoint.
Meanwhile, the director of Risk Management
at the Bank of Industry (BOI), Dr. Ezekiel Oseni who spoke on risk management
in financial innovations and sustainable development in Nigeria reported that
one of the unavoidable key ingredients to development is Innovation.
He therefore, enthusiastically suggested that the policy makers should kindly encourage home growth and financial innovations that can impact positively on the domestic economy which can also respond to other economics.
