In commemoration of World Red Cross Day 2026, the Commandant of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Detachment, Sen. Adekoya Abdulsalam Adebayo, led members of the detachment on strategic courtesy visits to key authorities within the university community, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to humanitarian service, institutional collaboration, and campus development.
The visitation, which formed a major part of activities lined up for the global humanitarian celebration, saw the OOU Red Cross leadership engage with the Chief Security Officer of the university as well as the leadership of the Student Union Government. During the visit to the Student Union Government, the President, Sen. Kehinde Gbamboshe, popularly known as Sen. Fele, was ably represented by the General Secretary, Sen. Olajire Emmanuel, who received the delegation on behalf of the union.
Speaking during the engagements, Sen. Adekoya Abdulsalam Adebayo emphasized the importance of partnership in promoting student welfare, campus safety, humanitarian service, and proactive leadership. He noted that the visitation was not only aimed at celebrating World Red Cross Day but also at fostering stronger institutional ties, health advocacy, and strategic collaboration that would further strengthen the role of the OOU Red Cross Detachment within the university community.
The strategic visitation reflects the Nigerian Red Cross Society, OOU Detachment’s dedication to going beyond ceremonial celebrations by actively positioning itself as a relevant force in service, leadership, and community impact.
