The Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Agboola celebrates Dr. Akinola of the Department of Mass Communication on his book launch and 60th birthday celebration on December 5, 2025, at the university's main campus, Ago-Iwoye.
The book titled, "Marketing and Communicating Politics in a Digital Era," written by Dr. Akinola was launched by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Agboola, the pioneer registrar of OOU, Dr. Chief Nathaniel Shotoyinbo, and distinguished personalities present at the event.
The Vice-Chancellor, while speaking at the event, started his speech stating that he believes Dr. Akinola will go far. "I know he's still going far, and God will take him there. The book is a move towards saving his name. In academics, we always live for life because we continue to make reference to people," he said. He ended his words by encouraging students and people present there to live their lives well because at the end of the day, the question will be, "What have you done?" and he gave a short prayer for the celebrant.
He also noted that there are some keywords in the story that he wants everyone to look at, especially the students present. He also affirms that the book is most especially relevant to Nigeria in this particular time as the elections are approaching.
The Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Semiu Bello, who was responsible for reviewing the book, said Dr. Akinola has brought pride to the department by sharing his knowledge in politics and communication. He said, "The book is relevant to the country at this time and to the Mass Communication Department. The book is meant for the Nigerian audience, and the inputs from the book are of benefit to the society. The book is a combination of the Town and Gown."
